Experience is worth the price of admission

There’s something to be said for those that persevere, who can look adversity in the face and keep going. For those that get beat down and continue to get back up.

It’s one thing to inherit success, but it’s another thing to have to work for it. To have to fight for every inch of forward movement. To get plenty of doors slammed in your face and people that say “no” before the right person says “yes”.

True success stories are those that are shaped by defeat and those that have been humbled by experience. This creates an appreciation that cannot be bought or taught.

Business Model & Blueprint Analysis

J.K. Rowling, the author behind the mega-successful Harry Potter book series experienced a real rags-to-riches story. The writer grew up in poverty, lived on welfare, and as a young adult, lost her mother to a serious disease. She used these experiences as inspiration for her writing, and drew from her own personal life challenges as she described character’s reactions to certain situations. Today, Rowling is considered to be one of the most successful authors of all time, and is estimated to be worth upwards of $2.5 billion.

Though stories like Rowling’s are few and far between, the point is that we can all take the negatives, the roadblocks and the tough times in our personal and professional lives and leverage those as learning experiences. If we use our past experiences as building blocks, they can fuel greater passion, persistence and success for our future endeavors.
